What makes a woman desirable?

This week on AskMen.com, the men’s lifestyle site I’m Australian editor for, it was time once again to quite literally put women in the “hot” seat, as we released our 2010 Top 99 Most Desirable Women List.
This year there were five Aussie beauties who made the cut - including model Miranda Kerr, soaring from last year’s position at number 46 to number 10.
Of course desire is a subjective thing and that’s part of its beauty - number 99 to some is number one to thousands of others. As one Australian gossip columnist noted: “Miranda Kerr may be one of the world’s most stunning supermodels, but she’s not as hot as singer Beyonce, or actresses Jessica Alba and Penelope Cruz, according to six million men.”
Of course such a list is going to generate debate and it’s not really about comparing rankings or about who wins the perceived gene-pool lottery.
It’s about who is the most desirable woman as a girlfriend or potential partner so the women in it often change from year to year as men’s tastes and trends change.
